We hear this term used so frequently these days, but what exactly is it? One definition (albeit a bit long) is "a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique." In a nutshell, it is being fully focused on the present moment and not overwhelmed by things going on around us. And I can hear you saying -- well, that's easier said than done.
It is about slowing down and truly paying attention to what is right in front of us without looking through "lenses" that cause a distorted view, anger, frustration...While we all have the capability to do it, it is so important to do it throughout the day. It may be by taking a walk, slowing down and paying attention to the aromas and taste of the food in front of us, or quiet meditation. Mindful meditation gives us the chance to put our biases on hold and release our mind's natural curiosity approaching things with open curiosity.
The sessions Inner Ki LLC offers provides a chance to simply be in the quiet with your mind and help you get perspective. It is a short time, yet one that gives you a chance to honor yourself and find some grounding. You are worth this time. Remember, you cannot pour from an empty cup!
